Apple’s iPhones are now available on Amazon. This proves Apple has jumped the shark

Apple recently announced that their products will be available on Amazon.

(It used to be the case that only Apple TV products were available on the E commerce behemoth.)

This is a big deal. Historically, luxury products have refused to allow their products to sell on Amazon, but now the world’s biggest luxe brand, Apple, are making their products available.

The strategy for Amazon is simple: they want to be the shop that sells everything.

For Apple, the deal is not all good news.

Yes, Apple get control of pricing in a secondary market. And Apple can also be included in Amazon’s massive global marketing efforts this Christmastime.

But this is a non-aspirational setting for Apple. It denigrates the brand and undercuts their efforts to make iPhone’s all about status.

I suspect Apple’s hand has been forced: iPhone sales are slowing and all the people who were going to buy an iPhone X most likely already has.

Put simply, Apple has jumped the shark.

That whirring sound? Steve Jobs spinning in his grave.
