What we talk about when we talk about 9/11
Yesterday was the ten year anniversary of 9/11.
I did not watch the coverage. I did not want to.
I lived about half a mile from the world trade centre in New York’s East Village. On September 11, ten years ago, I heard the second plane “go in.” I can easily recall the apocalyptic scenes on the streets of that city in the hours after the attacks. I even remember the smell.
I can settle with this: Gawker have made a word cloud of editorials from 15 prominent local and national papers to see what came up.
The word cloud was made in Worldle using editorials from a number of local and national newspapers, including The New York Times, the New York Post, the New York Daily News, The Wall Street Journal, the Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, the Chicago Sun-Times, the Chicago Tribune, Newsday, the San Jose Mercury News, The Dallas Morning News, the Houston Chronicle, The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Boston Globe, and The Star-Ledger.
