Countries pursuing austerity have by and large seen their debt positions worsen, as this chart from Paul Krugman demonstrates.

But Osbourne simply can’t admit he got it wrong about austerity, despite all the evidence to the contrary, says Krugman.

What, then, would be left of his claim to be qualified to do, well, anything? He has to stick it out until something turns up,no matter how many lives it destroys.
